NU 318 ECM

The NU 318 ECM is a high-performance single-row cylindrical roller bearing engineered to handle substantial radial loads while maintaining stability at high rotational speeds. As part of the SKF Explorer series, it features an optimized internal geometry (indicated by the EC suffix) that enhances the load-carrying capacity and improves roller-to-flange contact to reduce friction and heat generation. This specific model is designed with a machined brass cage (M), which provides superior strength and durability, particularly in demanding environments or applications subject to vibration.

A key characteristic of the NU design is the presence of two integral flanges on the outer ring and a smooth, flangeless inner ring. This configuration allows the bearing to accommodate axial displacement of the shaft in both directions, making it an ideal "floating" bearing. Additionally, the separable design allows the inner and outer rings to be mounted independently, simplifying installation and maintenance in complex machinery like industrial gearboxes, electric motors, and pumps.
