Greater Load Capacity

Having higher load capacity than any other split roller bearings of similar size, these re-designed bearings are able to provide up to 29% more radial capacity and 16% and 90& more axial load capacity, depending on the size.

Less Downtime

Machinery breakdown during operation is extremely costly, and most of the time they are due to premature bearing failure, leading to significantly increased downtime. The E-series is completely split to the shaft, an innovative feature whereby there is no need to dismount components on the shafts (e.g. pulleys, gearboxes...etc.), in which reduces downtime considerably.

Structure of Split Bearings

 

 

The split bearings are similar to the structure of unsplit bearings: inner ring, outer ring, and roller element set. All the parts are divided axially. The clamping rings are added to attach the bearing. However, in most cases, the inner ring is clamped with the clamping rings on a shaft.

 

The outer ring has no gap and is held by the housing bore. Another design is the so-called split housing bearing unit, which includes, in addition to the split bearing, a split housing. These housings are available with different features, e.g., integrated water cooling. Here the housing usually shows a minor wearing. Therefore it can be used multiple times.

Q: Why do we use split journal bearings?

A: Split bearings allow the shaft to be supported by the lower section of the bearing while the top section is removed, making bearing inspection simple without the need to remove drives or the shaft itself.

Q: What is the difference between a split bearing and a normal bearing?

A: For a comparable bearing, the split bearing will have a lower load and speed rating then a solid bearing. These are great for emergency repairs where downtime is critical, but if you have the time to replace a solid bearing in there, you will be much better off.

Q: Where are split bearings used?

A: Split spherical roller bearings have a cylindrical bore. They are generally mounted instead of unsplit spherical roller bearings with adapter sleeves. A: Bearing design
The inner ring, outer ring and cage with the roller set are split in half. The split bearing rings are held together by screws. The internal design of most split spherical roller bearings was carried over from our proven spherical roller bearing E1.

A: Measuring the inside diameter of a main or rod bearing will require a dial bore gauge. The best ones are accurate down to 0.0001-inch and generally come as a set that offers a measurement range from 2 inches to 4 inches inside diameter (id). With these two tools you can quickly determine the clearances in any engine.
