Conditions for rolling bearings to operate normally

Although rolling bearings appear to be relatively simple mechanical parts, their internal motion is quite complex, so arguments are provided in many literatures to evaluate the design and application of bearings. Experience shows that in many applications, rolling bearings can operate normally if the following conditions are met.

• Selecting the correct design and size of bearings for given application conditions;
• The bearings are correctly installed on the shaft and bearing housing;
• The bearing lubrication system is reasonably designed; the lubricating film thickness is sufficient to properly separate the rolling contact surfaces; the lubricant supply is sufficient;
• The rolling elements and cage are fully lubricated between the cage and the bearing rings;
• The bearing operating speed is consistent with the lubrication method to prevent excessive temperature;
• Prevent contaminants from entering bearings.

  Experience shows that in many applications these conditions can be met. However, in some applications the functional characteristics and durability conditions of the design cannot be met due to：

• Extremely short-term working conditions, such as heavy cargo and complex loads, too high rotation speed or acceleration, too high or too low working conditions, etc.Insufficient attention is paid to correct bearing methods and equipment operating habits.
• These conditions can easily lead to early bearing failure and possibly premature equipment damage.
